In regards to free floating background anxiety where you can't pinpoint a reason for the anxiety but you are constantly sensitised and left it there not interacting with it for a long time what do you suggest ?

Rob, all you can do is let it all just be there. I have exactly the same issue. It is your fear of it and the attention that you give it that keeps it going. Try to resolve to do nothing about it but to accept it and be prepared to react freely to each and every physical feeling and racing thought. By trying to stop it, control it and worry about it you are creating more of the adrenaline and cortisol to feed it. The chemicals impact on your sensitised sympathetic nervous system which produces the unpleasant physical feelings. Can I suggest you have a look on YouTube at the videos of David Daish and listen to the recordings made by Dr.Claire Weekes? They may assist you. I know how you feel!
